Matariki
Matariki, or the Māori New Year, heralds the arrival of the first new moon after the rising of the star cluster Pleiades in the eastern sky at dawn. It marks the end of the traditional harvest and the beginning of the ‘new year’ planting season.
Schools Plus
Schools Plus aims to ensure every young person is in education, skills, or structured learning, relevant to their needs and abilities, until the age of 18. Visit the website to learn how to have your say on how Schools Plus should be implemented.
NZ school term and holiday dates
The Ministry of Education provides information on the dates for school terms and holidays from now until 2010. You can link to the full list here.
2008 exam timetable from NZQA
The 2008 NCEA exam timetable is now available. NZQA recommends that you check it and consider any clashes before confirming your subjects or courses for 2008. If you do have any issues with the times, talk to your school as soon as possible.
Government web guidelines compliance
The Ministry of Education is currently in the process of redeveloping its existing websites. This process includes ensuring that they comply with the New Zealand Government's Web and Accessibility Guidelines.
